ABOUT

Hi, my name is Ollie Critchlow and I am The British RMT.

Born and raised in S.W. London (UK) I qualified as a Massage Therapist at the London School of Massage Therapy in 2016, and then moved to Canada with my Canadian wife and our 4 month old daughter in 2017.

Since settling in Amherstburg, I completed my Ontario qualifications as a Registered Massage Therapist at the Canadian College of Health Science & Technology in Windsor, and I now bring all of my training and experience, on both sides of the pond, to all of my clients.

Before I became a Massage Therapist I worked in media and advertising for almost 10 years. During this time throughout my 20’s I had intermittent flair ups of sciatica. After the 3rd time being off work for a week and bed ridden, I decided that the doctor’s pills weren’t quite cutting the mustard anymore. I had to find out what was causing the pain, rather than just surviving the pain.

I started my quest of manual therapy with chiropractors, massage therapists and osteopaths. These treatments and the science and education that came with them was very eye opening for me. The diagnosis soon became clear as it was a bulging disc in my low back (L4/L5 to be exact!) But what was most freeing from these therapies was their help in my recovery. My pain management, range of motion and physical ability far surpassed anything the pills could offer in the same time frame. And thankfully this also led to my decrease in dependency for pain medication.

With the fantastic help of a life coach I made the switch in my careers to become a Massage Therapist. Since then my back has always been an ongoing issue for me. After cortisone shots and a very successful discectomy operation - I am now 95% pain free in my day to day living. I maintain this through daily stretches, regular exercise and the help of other practitioners such as Physiotherapy, Osteopathy and of course Massage Therapy.

Since moving to Canada my wife and I have had a second daughter and we recently just invited a one-eyed poodle puppy to come and live with us too.

Left to right: My wife Jess, me, Rae and Ivy. We tried to include Lenny the one eyed poodle but she wasn’t patient enough…
